May 13, 2009

Hello everyone. It's Wednesday and it's a gloomy, rainy night however, it's filled with sunshine here at CHW and in Arizona. Caden ate good and kept it all down (so far) as well keeping his oxygen saturations elevated all day. (Yeah!)

Several hundreds of miles away my brother is also celebrating a great day. He is graduating tonight from Arizona State University with his Dr. of Philosophy in Industrial Engineering. I'm sorry I can't be there to celebrate with you tonight Eric . I know the rest of the family is cheering you on as you have worked so hard for this special day. I'm sure you and the rest of the Monroe's are also excited to hear President Obama speak at tonights graduation. I will call this day a "win" not only for Caden, but for my brother.

Love-
Melissa

  1. Hi David, Melissa, & Caden,

Today is definitely a day of celebration! I'm so happy that Caden had a wonderful day!!

Eric and your parents missed you tremendously today, but were so touched at your calls and texts messages! Graduation tonight was exhilarating! Obama is an energetic and passionate speaker, and the whole event was spectacular, finished off with fireworks!! We were so proud of Eric as he walked across the stage and shook Obama's hand. I think we'll officially start calling him Dr. Monroe now!!

We love you guys so much and are thankful for the strong bond of family! We've been talking about you nonstop since your parents arrived, and we're all definitely sharing in your joys and Caden's wins!!

    Love,
    Eric, Janelle, & Jackson

God gives us rays of sunshine to get us through the dark days that appear in our lives. You and Eric have ALWAYS been our rays of sunshine! We miss you, Daivd, and Caden during this time of celebration with the family. Caden will ALWAYS be our new starburst of light and sunshine! We thank the Lord the sun will shine over you and your family for years to come, as it has with the rest of us.

  8. Hello Caden-
Today is Thursday May 14th and it is just an awesome day. I hear that you have been kicking some butt and keeping all of your levels up to par and eating like a champ...that is great news. I also hear that you will have a doctor in the family, your Uncle Eric, graduates today and he will be a Doctor of Philosophy. I guess we can start saying; "Calling Dr. Monroe, Dr. Fine, Dr. Monroe". Actually, it is supposed to go like this; "Calling Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard"! That was a scene in a comedy called the "The Three Stooges" also known as; "The Godfathers of Comedy"
For more than 50 years fans have been entertained by the Three Stooges. Although the Stooges where not famous at first they gained recognition extremely fast.
The Three Stooges are a trio of the greatest slapstick movie clowns getting their start in 1922. Actually, this trio consisted of six people -- the initial Three Stooges trio were 2 brothers, Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Curly Howard, later Moe, Larry and brother, Shemp Howard, followed by Moe, Larry and Joe Besser, and finally Moe, Larry and Curly Joe DeRita. The Three Stooges became famous for their work in movies, primarily in short features that showcased their slapstick comedy, as well as in feature films in their later years.
I hope to keep reading about your tremendous progress!
    Have a wonderful day Caden
