April 8, 2009

Hey there everyone it is David. Even though I missed most of the day working I am on for the nightly update. I am able to do this because Melissa takes copious notes. Okay not really. I am able to do this because it was an uneventful day.

Caden Marshall kept down the majority of his food today, when they let him eat. As Melissa mentioned Caden had an Echo cardiogram (ECHO)scheduled for today which they did. As of noon today they would only feed him pedialite (sp?), which I understand he did not like, until the ECHO was performed. The ECHO took place at 3:30PM. An Echo cardiogram is a test that uses sound waves to create a moving picture of the heart. The picture is much more detailed than x-ray image and involves no radiation exposure.

We are hoping the ECHO provides the doctors a reason why we can't seem to get Caden off the oxygen and keep his saturation levels up at the same time. The doctors have speculated with us that the low oxygenation levels could be caused by restricted blood flow through the BT Shunt because of its length. The echo should confirm or at the least, let us know more how his heart is operating. The results will be discussed with us tomorrow morning. So until then.....

Good night.

David and Melissa

You have had many thoughts and prayers lifted up to you @ 3:30 this afternoon! We pray that the knowledge of the doctors lead them to a solution to his problem.

  6. Good morning Caden-
Today is Thursday April 9th and it is a beautiful sunny day. Probably because today is the day that your test results will come back with some answers so that wonderful team of doctors can make you all better.
Now onto some baseball; as I mentioned yesterday, here is the history of the other Chicago Baseball team:
The White Sox entered the league back in 1901; it was the inaugural year for the American League as well. At this time, the team was actually known as the White Stockings. Yes, they had the same name as the Cubs…I thought that was a bit strange myself. But, the reason they both had chose those names was simply due to the fact that their uniforms consisted of white stockings. It wasn't until 1903 when they just shortened their name to the present, White Sox. The Sox were the team to beat in the first year of the American League back in 1901. They were entering as the Western League Champions and the favorites to win it all...Which they did! The Sox would go on to finish 83-53, which was good enough for 1st place and the first ever American League Championship.
Hey I also wanted to let you know that I love seeing all of your pictures; you are a very handsome boy with great big beautiful eyes. I really can't wait to give you the biggest squeeze. So let's just stay focused and see what the test results say. Those doctors of yours will definitely figure everything out.
    Have a wonderful day Caden.

  8. God has blessed you both with a very handsome little boy. Through God all things are possible, I know your faith is with him and he will reward you with Caden's recovery. Lean on one another for strenght, don't be afraid to ask for help, keep your faith and keep praying. The students and administration at GNHS are an amazing group, makes me proud to be a knights mom. Our family will continue to pray for your little angel.

    Peace be with you.
