March 27, 2009

Hey there. David here at 10PM. I did not see my boy for the first time today until 8:30PM so this update is going to be short. I had to run home to watch a contractor work on the basement so I knocked out some laundry, paid some bills, and opened mail. Melissa gave me the cliff notes version of the day. It went something like this...

"I missed you. Caden wanted nothing to do with his morning feedings. I missed you. Caden wanted nothing to do with his noon feeding. I missed you and I love you. Caden renal stats have been low at times today and it seems like they are the lowest when he poops. Oh yea, did I tell you I missed you?"

Well it did not go exactly like that but to summarize, Caden Marshall had a pretty good day and had some very welcome visitors. He is having trouble feeding orally but they are working on it. What he wont take orally they feed him through the NG tube. We are still concerned about the low renal saturation levels however Dr. Nancy feels that there is not a cause for concern right now.

We are praying that his vocal cord paralysis is not permanent. Join us wont you?

Much love.

  1. Hi!

David, I am glad that you are back in town and hope you straighten out those problems in the basement!

I pray that those feeding problems are solved soon so that there is less stress on both of you.

I loved Caden's picture and can't wait to get a copy for 'grandma's purse'!

Prayers and love are coming your way!

  2. Melissa,
I have been praying for you and Caden since I got the news about Caden's heart back in January. Grandma Rita has kept the Washington School group updated on his progress. We have been so blessed to see his gains. As a speech therapist, I will help you all in specifically praying for his vocal cords. I will be praying for the first day he looks at his mom and 'coos'. Thanks again for taking your time to update us on his progress. Your family is very special to my family and I hope you feel all the prayers from all your far away friends.

I had such a wonderful time "babysitting" Caden yesterday! Being able to hold him and "love on him" is such a blessing that I will thank God for everyday. We had a little talk yesterday and Caden said he would start earting today! Hope you can keep up Melissa!
    Love you all!

  14. Dear David & Melissa,
I pray every day for Caden. Patience,I think, is what the doctors are saying. It may be difficult right now but it will pay off in time, along with all our prayers. God Bless You.
