Hey all. David here at noon on Sunday. This may be the last post for today as we will be changing locations and spending as much time with Caden Marshall as possible as this is our last chance to hold him for at least 10 days. We are excited we are able to get into the Ronald McDonald House. The RMC House is literally a 10 minute walk from our son. The hospital will give us pagers in the event they need to reach us quickly. We should be heading over to RMC at about 1:30 where the Hamburgler and Grimace will be going over the house rules and assigning us our room.
Melissa and I spent a great morning with our son. We talked to him and read versus from the Bible to him. Unfortunately the feeding Melissa gave this morning will be the last prior to surgery. They don’t want Caden Marshall to work too hard and they want to reduce his saturation levels. Also they will be giving him blood today to improve his red blood cell count which will be helpful for the surgery tomorrow. The sugery is scheduled for 8:30 am. We will be able to see him as much as we like until then however we will not be able to hold him after 7am. From talking with Doctors he should come out of surgery about 4PM. After that they will get him settled in the PICU after which we can see him. Not sure we will get to a post tomorrow or not.
We have been crying a bit more today than we have in the past week. I guess the pending surgery is now all too real and we struggle with the fact that we can not protect him from what is ahead of him. We know that we need to let go and let God and trust the doctors and that is what we will do. All we can do for Caden Marshall is love him and pray for him. We have been loving on him non-stop since he came into the world last Wednesday and praying just about as much. We are looking forward to our family supporting us in person tomorrow because we will need them. From you we look for your prayers. Prayers for a successful surgery, for the skillful hands of the doctors, prayers for the strength of Caden Marshall, and strength for Melissa and I.
Within the Bible, Matthew 18:19-20 it reads “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them”.
I am keeping Caden's page open and I refresh it each time I walk by the computer. I can't help but sit and stare at his beautiful face - especially the one at the top of this post - slowly taking in all the adorable baby features. He looks so loved and content and perfectly wonderful. I am glad you have so much love and support, people all over are tracking Caden's progress, this little guy has touched so many lives. May God richly bless you and cradle you sunggly in His love tomorrow and always.

Dear David and Melissa,
ReplyDeleteHaving been here this week, we have only seen love pour out to our new grandson. If there is strength in numbers, many churches, relatives, and strangers have sent their love to Caden. Our love will be there for you tomorrow, as we wait for the miracles of skilled hands taught by God.

David and Melissa,
ReplyDeleteWe want to send our love to Caden and both of you. We think about Caden throughout the day and the boys say a special prayer for Baby Caden every night. Last night when the boys were finishing their prayers, Bradley looked at me and said "Baby Caden is my best friend." The boys kiss Caden's pictures when we look at the site. We will be thinking of you and sending extra love and prayers to Caden tomorrow.
Love,
Jim, Michelle, Austin, Bradley and Connor
David & Melissa, My devotional verse this morning was "For I the Lord your God hold your right hand; I am the Lord, Who says to you, Fear not; I will help you! Isaiah 41:13 He will not leave you today or in the days to come. Praying that you would feel His arms around all of you today.

Melissa and family,
ReplyDeleteI haven't been in touch with you in a while, but have had the pleasure to work with your mom at Washington School the last few years. Since we heard the news about Caden back in January we have been uplifting you and your family in prayer. God has such great plans for you and Caden. We will continue to pray that God will give you a peace and this hand will be upon the doctors, nurses, and most importantly Caden as he goes through surgery today. I hope you find a peace today that can only come from Him.
