June 3, 2009

The roller coaster continues.....It's 11:15 and I just got in from a very long day. Caden is really struggling with pain, and bad headaches from the pressure differences from his surgery. The pain seemed to get worse as the day went on . By late evening we were looking at heart rates in the 190's , oxygen saturations in the 70's, and blood pressures in the 130/50's. Yes, hardly something you or I could handle let alone his little body. He has been so uncomfortable he hasn't slept or eaten much. As doctors are trying to tweek out some stronger pain meds we are also trying to be conservative seeing what happend last Saturday. We continue to pray for Caden's body to heal, get stronger, and fight through these days post surgery.

Thanks again to everyone who is reading and/or writing on our blog. After a long stressful day it is so nice to read your words. Your prayers again are greatly appreciated each and every day.

And yes, we do get to hold our son (much sooner than the last surgery which is AWESOME). We just have to watch how we hold him and not to put pressure anywhere near the incision down his chest or near the abdomen where his chest tubes were placed.

Love -
Melissa

  12. Good Morning Caden-
Today is Thursday June 4th…June is the sixth month of the year in the Gregorian calendar, with a length of 30 days. The month is named after the Roman goddess Juno, wife of Jupiter and equivalent to the Greek goddess Hera. June begins with the sun in the astrological sign of Gemini, and ends with the sun in the astrological sign of Cancer. June is the month with the longest daylight hours of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest daylight hours of the year in the Southern Hemisphere.
I see you have a nice tight hold on your lamby…it seems very soft and cuddly…I hope that it brings you comfort during your recovery process. I know that your little head keeps pounding but those doctors are going to find the meds to make everything better. Just please continue to be that pillar of strength and lets get through this stage and finally get you back “H” where you belong!
After a humbling loss to the Boston Celtics in last year's finals, the Los Angeles Lakers will be seeking atonement -- and a 15th championship -- when they face the resurrected Orlando Magic tonight, in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
The Magic, on the other hand, will be making their first appearance in the finals since 1995, and have knocked off the favored Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and can now eliminate the heavily favored Los Angeles Lakers. If they are able to pull of yet another upset, that would be quite a trifecta. Actually, if they are able to defeat the Lakers the Magic would have beaten 3 teams in the same postseason, that had at least 60 wins…that is something that no other team has ever accomplished before.
    Have a wonderful day Caden

  13. We are continuing to pray for Caden. We will pray that his headaches go away and that he is comfortable. We also continue to pray for mom and dad's strength as well. We know that God has His hand upon Caden and have seen Him answer many prayers already. We will continue to hold onto the strength that can only come from God. In our prayers,
    Kristi

  14. Storms continue to come as Caden goes through this next stage. God is always in the storm, rely on the prayers of so many others at this time to strengthen you and him. Rest in His arms and I pray that you continue to find unbounding peace as you go through today.

  15. Melissa - I am not sure you remember me, but I am a friend of Shelli's. I was with her the other night and she told me about the "fight" you and your family are going through. I cannot even begin to imagine what you and your husband are going through, but just know you are in our thoughts and prayers!!! As I browse through this sight, the tears continue to fall!! Stay strong Melissa - God will see you through this!!!!!

  16. Marilyn:
What a little trooper Mr. Caden is! He is such a little cutie pie! I have been checking in every few days to see how he is doing, and am amazed at the strength and courage of your family!

When he gets a little older, I hope you plan on teaching him a second language...Spanish perhaps? Just a suggestion...

Stay strong, and fight the good fight!

  18. A request has been made for a "Prayer of Healing" that will be said here in Joliet at "OUR LADY OF ANGLES" Chapel/Retiremsnt Home. These Franciscan nuns ban together, and I must say, they are quite powerful. Their prayers will be heard.
We think of you often and send strength and love. cara and scott
