Yeah! Caden had his appointment on Friday and everything went well. Caden had an X-ray and his lungs looked great, and the cardiologist said Caden's heart and valves all sound good. We will continue to work on Caden's feeds (which are sometimes on the low side), and we got the OK to start immuizations in July. David and I were really excited to get such great news. They don't need to see us again in Milwaukee for a clinic appointment for another month.
While we were waiting for our appointment we had the opportunity to talk to Chris another parent of an HLHS baby who we had met on the 3rd floor just down from our room. Chris and Michelle's daughter Carsyn is currently awaiting a new heart. It was great to talk to you Chris. We also got to visit with Leah (our social worker) and Maura (a nurse). It was nice to see some familiar faces.
In our previous blog entries you might remember Nurse Julie. We also got to meet up with her for lunch since she wasn't working at CHW on Friday. Great to see you again Julie.
Our day ended with more great news. My friend Kristen had a baby boy - Blake Joseph. Congrats to Kristen and Todd on their much awaited bundle of joy.
We continue to thank you all for your prayers. We feel so blessed to have our son home and that he is now doing so well.
Lots of love -
Melissa
Great to hear more wonderful news! We will be thinking good thoughts for Caden and Carsyn.

So glad to hear that Caden is doing so well. Hope you guys are getting some rest. Keep up the good work! Will continue to pray for you all.
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed you guys. I stopped by Herma Heart when I got to the hospital, but I think you were already gone. Glad to hear that things went well. Chris said you had to wait a while for your appointment, but it sounds like it was well worth the wait! Caden looks so good in the pictures you posted. Hopefully he starts eating like a champ and you won't have to worry about that as much. Enjoy the warm summer days with your little miracle!

Keep the good news coming!! It is nice to see several days go by without a post because I know that means that normal is still happening in "Not-Cheese-Land" (AKA "H")!!
ReplyDeleteCaden-Heads rejoice at the progress!!!
Hi guys- So great to hear Caden is doing well. Funny to see all of those names (Leah and MAura) that we are so consumed with right now...Chris and Michelle have been a agreat support to us...so very nice. I am so happy for your guys being home and a family...after going through what we are in the midst of, you both deserve "normal" family time. I would love to talk to you soon.

Hello Caden-
ReplyDeleteToday is Monday June 29th and the month is almost over. I am very glad to hear that all of your checkups have come back with excellent reports. Now we just need for you to increase your eating habits a bit.
I will have to assume that you are currently a Cub fan since you do not have the ability to talk as of yet and your father has mandated it.
Well the Crosstown classic is no longer tied! The Sox currently hold a 37-36 advantage since they won 2 games in last weekend’s 3 game series. The Cubs won the first game which was very exciting through the last out in the bottom of the ninth inning. The 2nd game was very intense because it had many lead changes. The Cubs scored a run in the top of the 8th inning to take the lead once again and then the Sox answered with a run in the bottom of the eight to tie it back up at 7 apiece. The cubs were then blanked in the top of the 9th inning and the Sox won it in the bottom of the ninth. However, yesterdays game was a blanked them with a score of 6-0. There is still one more game to be played since the first series had a game that was rained out…so if the Cubs should happen to win that game the overall series will once again be tied. I believe that this game is schedule will be played sometime in September.
Have a wonderful day at home Caden
