Hey all. Very Happy Friday night to you all.
Just a quick update to let you know that everything is great, fun, new, and normal. Normal, meaning how it should be when you bring a baby home. Melissa and I are settling in with our family and having fun doing it. Melissa is a wonderful mother and evidence of that continues to show itself in new and wonderful ways to me She is so great with Caden and me, we are both truly blessed to have her.
For me, I am loving being Caden Marshalls dad and am looking forward to fathers day for no other reason than I am in fact the father of a very strong little man. I sit here and reflect on this week and it brings a big smile to my face. Each day I went to work and left a kiss for my wife and my son on their sleeping heads. I call and check in a couple of times a day to see if everything is fine and it has been. When I leave work I can not seem to get home fast enough. I drive home looking forward to what has become a routine when I walk in the door. Caden Marshall is normally awake in one of the many places we put him. I get down on my hands and knees and crawl towards him growling about how I am going to get him. The closer I get to him the more growling I do and he loves it. Caden greats me with a big smile and continues to smile the more I growl and kiss him. He likes to stick out his tongue sometimes when he smiles and it is cute! Look, I know that this is normal new dad stuff yet that is what is so great about it.........It is normal and wonderful.
This weekend I am really excited about. If everything works out, Caden Marshall is going to meet some of his cousins for the first time. If you know me you know how I feel about my niece and nephews and how important they are to me. While Caden was in the hospital they were unable to meet him for one reason or another and that bothered me. Well that is going to be rectified this weekend and that will make me even happier than I am now -if that is possible.
Life is good. God is great.
David and Melissa
Yes, God is Good! Aren't they right when they say "it's the little things that sometimes mean the most?" What an awesome father you are to Caden! Melissa is such a blessing as well. Caden is SO BLESSED to have you two! Enjoy your special weekend!

I love reading about Caden's progress. David, you are quite a writer. You could save all of these and compose a book from them someday. I could just "see" you down on the floor with Caden. Happy Father's Day!! God Bless all three of you!!

ReplyDeleteGod is indeed, so good. It takes those valleys when we're low, to really appreciate when we're high on that mountain. I am so thrilled for you guys. Caden is a very lucky guy to have such great parents. I hope you all enjoy your weekend and have a Happy Father's Day!
ReplyDeleteDavid,
ReplyDeleteOur first Father's Day will certainly be memorable for both of us and I'm sure we will appreciate them a tad bit more than others.
Happy Father's Day and God Bless buddy,

Hey Caden,
ReplyDeleteIt's me...Lindsey Jo, your little HLHS girlfriend down the end of the hall, room 301. I came to visit you when my mommy and daddy were taking me for a walk, but your room was empty. I am happy for you, but sad for me. I am still stuck here. I just got part of my lung removed a few days ago. Maybe someday we will meet again. I hope you are enjoying life at home with your mommy and daddy. I'll bet they are so happy to have you home. I remember that day for me. We wish you the best and pray you remain in good health!! Have a Happy Father's Day with your daddy! Check out my caringbridge.org website-password, lindseypusick

Good morning Caden-
ReplyDeleteToday is Sunday June 21st and it happens to also be Fathers Day.
The idea for creating a day for children to honor their fathers began in Spokane, Washington. A woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd thought of the idea for Father's Day while listening to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909.
Having been raised by her father, William Jackson Smart, after her mother died, Sonora wanted her father to know how special he was to her. It was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora's father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father's Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June 1910.
In 1926, a National Father's Day Committee was formed in New York City. A Joint Resolution of Congress recognized Father’s Day in 1956. In 1972, President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father's Day to be held on the third Sunday of June. So Father's Day was born in memory and gratitude by a daughter who thought that her father and all good fathers should be honored with a special day just like we honor our mothers on Mother's Day.
I also wanted you to know that you have an amazing Father that loves you more than you will ever know!
Have a wonderful day at home Caden
Happy Father's Day David!!! So happy you get to be at home for it!
